Holistic Addiction Treatment
ABOUT OUR HOLISTIC THERAPIES
New Waters Recovery offers holistic addiction treatment services for clients enrolled in our detox and clinical assessment programs. We believe that successful recovery is not only measured by abstinence from substances, but by the development of insight and implementation of positive changes that improve an individual's quality of life. That's why, in addition to high quality medical and clinical care, we also provide a range of adjunctive therapies that have been shown to promote holistic wellness.
More Than A Detox Center
Medical detox is the first step in a lifelong journey toward a meaningful sober life. At New Waters Recovery in Raleigh, NC, we help clients safely withdraw from substances and identify any psychological conditions that may be contributing to their symptoms—but we are so much more.
We also work one-on-one with clients to develop detailed recovery plans that extend far beyond their time with us, and we encourage the use of holistic therapies such as yoga, meditation and massage to improve both mental and physical health. We also assist our clients with aftercare planning to transition to outpatient or inpatient treatment centers if desired.
We believe that the choice to pursue substance abuse treatment or a mental health assessment is a courageous and exciting one, and should be celebrated. Our team promises to do everything in our power to make sure your stay is as comfortable and stress-free as possible, and we have thought through every aspect of the client experience to deliver on that promise.
Integrative Therapies and Holistic Treatment Options
The idea of pursuing substance abuse treatment can be intimidating for many individuals. Withdrawal symptoms can be uncomfortable, and building new habits and a new lifestyle from scratch is extremely difficult. Many of our staff have been through the process ourselves and understand the unique barriers to receiving treatment.
New Waters Recovery's selection of holistic treatments not only helps clients feel more calm and relaxed in the moment, but have long-term physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. We feel so strongly about the efficacy of adjunctive therapies that we provide all of these services to our clients at no additional cost. These services are completely optional, but many individuals find that they have enormous benefits during treatment, and can also support sobriety and healthy habits for years to come.
Adjunctive services and therapies include:
Infrared Sauna
Sauna use has been shown to provide multiple physical and mental health benefits. In addition to promoting relaxation, using a sauna can improve circulation and cardiovascular health, soothe sore muscles, flush toxins and lactic acid from the system, boost the immune system, and even reduce insomnia. Because infrared saunas use light to heat up the body, instead of heating the air inside the sauna, they can be used at lower temperatures while producing the same health benefits and are typically less humid than traditional saunas. Even 10-15 minutes of sauna use can lead to changes in mood and physical comfort.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, and has more recently become popular in the West as a method of healing, relaxation and pain management. During acupuncture, a trained practitioner will insert very thin needles into specific pressure points or areas of the body known to relieve tension. When used as part of holistic treatment for substance abuse, acupuncture can reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, and help regulate emotions and sleep.
Fitness/Movement
Our state of the art addiction treatment facility features a fitness area where clients can maintain their exercise routines or create new healthy habits around fitness. Exercise is one of the most important aspects of alcohol and drug addiction recovery for many individuals. It releases endorphins that alleviate tension, reduce pain and promote relaxation. Maintaining a workout schedule can also provide a sense of structure, purpose, and accountability for those who are newly sober.
Breathwork
Breathing is the essence of life itself. Facilitated breathwork teaches you how to breathe properly, as well as offering various breathing techniques. Breathwork recalibrates the energetic field and purges stuck emotions from the body. The breathe deeply relaxes the physical body and quiets the mind, peeling back the layers of pain and self-judgement. Breathwork is a shortcut on the path of healing, and the benefits can be experienced immediately. Breathing activates and opens your channels of creativity, reminding you or helping get you closer to your purpose.
Yoga
Yoga and meditation are also ancient practices that have become more mainstream because of their powerful ability to promote inner peace and overall health. New Waters Recovery offers yoga and meditation as part of our holistic therapies, and our facility features a dedicated meditation room where clients can find quiet and solace any time of day or night. Yoga and meditation have been shown to calm the nervous system during addiction treatment and reduce withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia and depression.
Meditation
Meditation is an ancient practice that has become more mainstream because of its powerful ability to promote inner peace and overall health. New Waters Recovery offers meditation as part of our holistic therapies, and our facility features a dedicated meditation room where clients can find quiet and solace. Meditation has been shown to calm the nervous system and reduce symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and depression.
Nutrition and Chef Prepared Meals
Our on-site chef prepares daily nutritious meals that incorporate a holistic approach to food and its positive effects on the human body and mind. It is important for individuals to maintain a healthy diet during detox and addiction treatment as this will help regulate hormones, blood sugar levels, and nutrition to support a quick and effective recovery.
Massage
Massage therapy can be extremely beneficial for individuals undergoing addiction treatment. In addition to relieving muscle tension and some of the physical symptoms of withdrawal, it also releases chemicals such as oxytocin and dopamine. These natural hormones can help an individual feel more peaceful, happy, and connected. Massage services are available to clients in both our detox and clinical assessment programs and are included in the cost of treatment.
About Our Substance Abuse Treatment Facility
When most people think of a detox center, they picture a medical building with a simple, sterile aesthetic. While we do offer the highest level of medical care available, New Waters Recovery feels more like a spacious, spa-like environment than a traditional healthcare facility. We have designed our new, state-of-the-art building to include all the comforts and amenities of home so that clients can feel relaxed and at ease as they focus on their healing and recovery.
Our private and semi-private suites include flat screen TVs with bluetooth headphones for added privacy. In addition, our holistic treatment center features a meditation room, fitness area, infrared sauna, and an outdoor patio area.
